What are you willing to do to educate all children?

Image
I am willing to do everything in my control to educate all children. I will apply  various teaching techniques and keep an open mind to view and teach students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. There was a paragraph from this unit that really stood out to me.  The paragraph said ' Teachers must actively learn about their particular students in order to design instruction that will meet their needs. This includes being deliberate about trying to understand the cultural norms for communicating and collaborating that prevail in particular communities, how certain cultural and religious views affect what is considered appropriate in school, and the topics and issues that interest individual students and groups of students. It also means keeping track of what is happening in students’ personal lives so as to be able to respond appropriately when an out-of-school experience affects what is happening in school.'  It is important that as future teachers we adjust ...

How Does Gender Affect the Teaching Profession?

Image
Growing up I have heard several gender stereotypes about teachers and the traditional social norms and stereotypes that can lead to gender discrimination in education. I also have heard the countless amount of judgments made towards the teaching profession and why people think that gender affects the teaching profession.  I have had so many people judge me for wanting to pursue teaching. I always get told "teachers don't make enough" and "that sounds fun". I do not think that teachers are valued enough for what they do. Teachers do so much and they deserve to be treated equally. As a future educator, I know that because I am a woman I will be affected by gender discrimination in education. It is a well-known fact that w omen have always been mistreated in the workforce. Women also do not get the same pay, opportunities, or respect that most men do as educators.  Overall Gender does affect the teaching profession but I believe that there is hope for equality...

What is the Purpose of Schools?

Image
Many people think that the purpose of schools is to prepare students for the future. I believe that they are correct but there is much more to it. In my opinion, the purpose of schools is to provide a safe place for children and to create a generation of growth and self-love. Creating a safe space for my future students is very important to me. There are so many children who love going to school because they feel safer at school than they feel at home. One of my main priorities as a future educator is to make sure my future students feel safe and comfortable in my classroom. Creating a generation of growth and self-love is very important to me. As teachers, we have the opportunity to create a generation of growth for our students. I believe that it is very important to provide equal learning opportunities to help our students grow and love themselves.
