How can educational philosophies influence schooling?
There are several reasons as to why educational philosophies influence schooling. Educational philosophies are the goals, forms, methods, and meaning of education. This term is usually used to describe both fundamental philosophical analysis and the description of particular pedagogical approaches. Educational philosophies affect what subjects or topics are taught, how they are taught, and more crucially, the underlying attitudes and values that are taught.
There are some educational philosophies that are very important to me. As future teachers, we need to be able to view from the perspective of our students in order to understand how our students learn and help them inside and outside of our classroom. If we don't listen to our student's feedback we could miss their point of view. By using educational philosophies we can learn a lot of information from our students which will allow us as teachers to improve our teaching in our classroom. As a future teacher, I want to be able to figure out the best way to teach and inspire my students. It is important to me that I will be able to keep my students engaged and wanting to learn more knowledge in my classroom.
Educational philosophies are very important for students and their teachers. Educational philosophies help and allow us as future teachers to find what works best for the student based on how each student learns. By using some educational philosophies teachers are able to find out how their students actually feel about what they are learning. Overall educational philosophies will influence schooling by sharing with students all of the different ways they can learn new material.
Hi Cameron, not only can educational philosophies help a student learn, but they can also help a teacher teach. Figuring out which philosophies you align with can help create your desired classroom environment and help to create goals for your students. I agree that one of the most important things for a teacher is to understand their students learning styles and personal backgrounds so lessons can be created to accommodate them and promote their academic achievement.
ReplyDeleteHello!! Is it most important for a teacher to understand their students learning styles and personal background so the lessons can be easy for the student to get the knowledge that they need. It is true that the philosophies help student is need but it also helps the teachers with learning about the students.
ReplyDeleteHey Cameron,
ReplyDeleteI love that your focus is on inspiring your students. While I know your post was mainly about educational philosophies teaching children, have you ever thought that maybe the philosophies could also help the teachers? Teachers, after reading about educational philosophies, could learn more about themselves and how they want to approach their classrooms. You could also use them to encourage your students to set new goals for themselves, goals that maybe they would not have thought about without your guidance.
I, for one, align with Progressivism the most. I'm curious to know which one you align with as well. Thanks for making this post.
